The KP Farm Council is excited to bring back an Apple Cider Squeeze to the Key Peninsula! It’s a wonderful tradition to bring the community together once again. We’ll be hosting the squeeze event at Volunteer Park on the second day of the annual KP Farm Tour, Sunday, October 6, 2019.
BYOA! This will be a Bring Your Own Apple event! While we will have apples for sale as well, we hope the community can band together and collect apples from the KP. There are many many unused apples on the peninsula so why not make use of them!
Activities will include:
Cider is not pasteurized. Consuming unpasteurized juice can increase your risk of foodborne illness. To reduce the chance of foodborne illness it is good to recommend that people boil the cider to at least 160F to kill potential E coli O157:H7 that may be present in unpasteurized juice. Once boiled to at least 160F the cider should be refrigerated and consumed within 5 days. Please click here to read the Comsumer Advisory.
We will have apple washing stations at the event (per PCHD requirements).
